Increasingly sports organizations and associations are popping up in amateur sports circles to fill the void at older age levels, where individuals still have a ton of talent and competitive drive, but find themselves looking for a league at the sub-varsity level in college or university. 

 

That’s where the Men’s Hockey Club at Boston College comes in, filling the void of competitive hockey on campus at the venerable Boston College. As the Club’s mission statement observes, “There exists a great number of talented and dedicated hockey players that do not have the opportunity to play at the division I level here at B.C. and it is these students which the club team wishes to provide the opportunity to continue competing in serious athletics.”

 

The BC Men’s Hockey Club is student-run, and each member pays annual dues to help fund the program. The student-athletes are leaders on their campus and within the BC Community, and play in the Goalline powered American Collegiate Hockey Association. As the legend goes, in 2006 the team played as an unaffiliated team know as the “Eagles Club Hockey,” and so began the building of the team framework and playing style of the Eagles. As the club’s website tells it; “With donated uniforms, non-matching equipment, minimal practices and a shoestring budget, the “BC Boys” had made a name for themselves as an out-of-nowhere local powerhouse that played with spirit and class.”
